Miss Independent

Man, I love that Kelly Clarkson song. Anyway...I'm not really sure how I feel about this yet. Eden is starting to be so independent! She no longer wants me to cuddle with her when I put her down for a nap. We normally lay down together and cuddle until she goes to sleep, but she has decided that she doesn't like me to treat her like such a baby anymore. She just wants me to leave her alone and give her a blanket so she can fall right to sleep. I'm going to miss snuggling her when she gets in those really cute but super tired moods. She even wants to hold her own bottles now. She wants nothing to do with me when she gets a bottle. She just wants to be alone with her bottle and toys. Lucky for me, she has to snuggle with me when I nurse her. What's next? I just know that she's going to be asking us for a cell phone soon!

4 Months

Eden is 4 months old! I can not believe 4 months has gone by so fast. She is getting bigger and definitely getting cuter every day. She is such a fun little baby. She rarely cries and when she does it's nothing that a nap or a boob can't fix. She has no intentions of rolling over yet. I think she is skipping that and just going right to walking! She has to be standing all the time, no sitting down for her. She is so interested in everything that is going on around her and loves to be held by anyone... as long as she's being held. She still loves to be outside and she is happiest when we are taking walks or doing anything out in the sun. She weighed in at 13 pounds and she's 25 inches long. She is really starting to be interested in little toys and she chews on everything! She entertains herself by making silly noises, blowing spit bubbles and playing with her toes. At nap time, she has learned to get a good grasp of my fingers with one hand and she lays the other hand on my cheek so that it makes it very hard to sneak away once she has fallen asleep. She has such the cutest little personality and is always happy. We are working on trying to get her to laugh, but I guess we just aren't funny enough. We are working on it though. We love our little Eden!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all of my favorite Fathers!

First, my Baby's Daddy. Here he is just minutes after becoming a father. He is so proud of his little girl and loves her to death. Eden is so lucky to have such a wonderful father. Occasionally I'll look over at Craig while he is just staring at Eden and I'll see him start to tear up. She is the center of his whole world and he would do anything for her. I love seeing them together.

Here's what we made for him... a king sized cereal bowl and his favorite - Cinnamon Life!

Second, My Daddy. He is so special to me, I just love him so much. He is the best Dad and has been so patient with me (especially during my teenage years). He is so soft spoken and an example to so many people. I have so many good memories with my Dad. I can remember sitting in his truck with him and he would sing "If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful" to me. It's still our song. I remember going to the courthouse to work with him every year on 'take your daughter to work day'. We were such good buddies. My Dad never missed a single basketball game in the 10 years I played basketball. Without a doubt, I knew I could always look up in the stands and see my Dad. I always look forward to his random text messages that tell me he loves me. I don't think a single day goes by where he doesn't let me know that he loves me. Man, I have the best Dad. I love you Dad!

Here we are dancing to our song

I can't forget the Dad who put up with Craig for much longer than I have. Thanks, Bob :)

Water Bug

We took Eden swimming for her first time this week. I wasn't sure how she would like it since I had dipped in her the pool once before and she wasn't impressed. She totally loved it this time though. She was splashing, blowing spit bubbles and kicking everywhere. It was so cute. Nana Joyce bought her this little baby float and she just floated around in the pool like she was trying to sun bathe or something. She would have stayed in there for hours if I would have let her.

Eden is starting to do so many cute things. She has just recently found her little piggies (toes) and she tries to suck on them but she isn't that coordinated yet. She can roll from her back to her side but gets stuck and can't quite make it all the way to her stomach. She loves making spit bubbles and blowing her tongue at us when she's happy. She also has found that she has a voice and likes to yell to hear it. Music to my ears? Not so much. I think she may be in the beginning stages of teething because she is drooling like crazy and loves to chew on everything.

As of last week our little peanut weighed in at 12 pounds 5 ounces. We've also noticed that her legs are finally starting to get some chubb on them and her first leg rolls are starting to form!

Nap time is starting to become a big pain the butt lately. The only time she gets a good long nap is when she can be in our bed and there is complete silence. If I have errands to run during the day, there is no chance of her napping for longer than 10 minutes in her car seat. This makes for a grumpy little girl come night time. Sundays are also no fun because church is right in the middle of her nap time and she wouldn't dare take a nap at church when there are so many fun people to look at and play with. She isn't sleeping so much at night anymore. She is still sleeping through the night, but her internal alarm clock goes off every morning around 6:30. I can't function that early anymore. What happened to her good ol' days of sleeping in until 10am?!

Sam is home!

My sister's boyfriend, Sam, got home from his mission on Friday. He served in Argentina for 2 years. Brooke is SO happy to have him home and he doesn't let Brooke leave his sight. They are so cute together and I can't wait to really start planning the wedding!
